First Fleeter Gravesite Plaque Ceremonies — 1976 – 2009

 

Since 1976 a key activity of the Fellowship has been the location and identification of graves of First Fleeters. With the consent of the descendants and the burial place administrators, a Fellowship bronze plaque is attached to the tombstone. An unveiling dedication ceremony follows in the context of a descendants’ family reunion.

 

In certain situations where a burial site is known, but no tombstone has survived, a ‘Commemorative’ plaque is affixed in a prominent location at the burial site.

 

The Fellowship acknowledges and thanks the late Doug Oakes (1930-2001) FF#45 - FF’s John Small & Mary Parker-who was responsible, as Convener Plaques Committee, for the placing of the first 114 Plaques from 1976 to 2001.

 

The search for more gravesites goes on.
