Admiral Arthur Phillip
The 200th Anniversary of his Death
In July 2014 there
were services to commemorate the 200th Anniversary of
the death of Admiral Arthur Phillip in Westminster Abbey, and at
the Assembly Rooms at Bath, together with a tour of the New
Forest and other sites within England associated with Admiral
Phillip and of First Fleet significance.
The FFF Board
appointed former ‘Founders’ Editor Ron Withington as the
Fellowship’s Foreign Correspondent for these very important
events.
Ron’s report/journal is called -
PEERLESS PILGRIMAGE
Together with Ron, Vice-President Denis Smith and
a number of Fellowship members who attended the ceremony at
Westminster Abbey installing the memorial stone commemorating
the bicentenary of the death of Governor Arthur Phillip, found
it a very moving affair.
The Duke of Edinburgh placed a red wreath on the
stone and VP Denis and Gillian Doyle (Arthur Phillip Chapter)
followed, representing the Fellowship then placed a wreath
containing Australian native flowers.
