MARRIAGES - PRESBYTERIAN OTHER CHURCHES

This  list  records 18 Presbyteian churches and parishes  all  of which were
established during the decade 1831 to 1840 and all  of which  recorded  less
than fifty marriages  in  their  registers. However  when combined these churches
and parishes  totalled  286 marriages.  Unfortunately in eight cases the parish
registers have not been located.

The churches and parishes listed are as follows, arranged by date of establishment:

            1839:St Andrews Kirk Port Macquarie {SAPM}
            1840:Bowenfels; Vale of Clwydd (Rev. Colin Stewart - Itinerant) {BOWE}

The information recorded for each marriage is as follows:
               date
               groom
                    family name
                    Christian name
                    year and ship of arrival
civil status at time of marriage
                    age at marriage
                    parish
                    occupation
               bride
                    family name
                    Christian name
                    year and ship of arrival
civil status at time of marriage
                    age at marriage
                    parish
               consent given by
               officiating minister
               reference number

The  marriages  within  each  church and  parish  are  listed  in chronological
order.

All the known officiating ministers are listed at the end of  the web page, of
whom there are ten.

Of the grooms, 122 (43%) have been identified and for the  brides 116  (41%).
The consent of the Governor was calculated  as  being required in 70 cases (25%).

In the abscence of access to the parish register the New South Wales
State Archive reference numbers have been retained.

There  were eight marriages in the State Archives Pioneer  Series file which
have no entry on any of these parish registers. It  is very  likely that most
of these result from typographical  errors and relate to post 1840 marriages.

To  locate an entry on this list; firstly an alphabetical  search on  the  name
would be made on Lists 3 or 4  using  parish  code listed  in  the table above
from which the date  of  marriage would  be  retrieved,  secondly   using   the
appropriate date, the marriage would then be located on this list.
